Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Health Center and the Wellness Center?
The Health Center is where students receive primary medical care. The Wellness Center is a resource center for health education.

Top

What's a "office visit fee"?
An "office visit fee" is the $8.00 fee required to receive medical care.

Top

Will my insurance cover a health center visit?
Health insurance coverage varies.  Please check your policy to verify.

Top

Does the Health Center make referrals to other doctors?
Yes we do make referrals to other specialists. Please be advised that the WCU Health Center cannot be named as a "primary care physician" for anyone's individual insurance plans.  If your insurance requires referrals from a "primary care physician" in order to cover the costs of referral services, then you will need to receive the referral from the doctor named as your "primary care physician" on your insurance plan.

You can get free condoms from any of the nurses or physicians during your health care visit or pick some up at the Wellness Center Welcome Desk, Wayne Hall Rm 224.

We only fill prescriptions made by our physicians, and our pharmacy services are limited. Please see Pharmacy Services for more details.
