The Association for Women's Empowerment (A.W.E.) is our new name, but we are still a group of individuals that are interested in learning more about issues concerning women. We discuss anything related to women and provide a safe space for all people.
We meet on Mondays at 7:30 PM. Men are welcome, too!

September 10: Looking for a more satisfying sexual experience? Juicy Justine has that solution along with many other tips and tricks. There are tons of giveaways for participating in sex trivia! Open to ALL genders and orientations.
September 17: Sundae Social Nothing says welcome back like sundaes. Join the AWE board in indulging in yummy treats and discussing the upcoming semester. Bring all of your friends for FREE ice cream!
Co-sponsored by the Women’s Center and the Office of Social Equity WCU has a brand new sexual misconduct policy that you need to know about, and we need your help spreading the word to others. Attend a brief presentation on some details like how, when, and where to report sexual misconduct. Then, decorate an umbrella with what you learned. We’ll display the decorated umbrellas all around campus for RAINN Day on September 27th. Educate yourself! Help others!
Co-Sponsored with Men In Action and the Women’s Center Co-facilitated by members of Men in Action (MIA), this enlightening program will explore the connections among traditional masculinity, chivalry, and sexism in our society today.

October 15 : Co-sponsored by the Women’s Center Have you always wanted to learn verbal and physical self-defense tactics? Did you know that WCU has a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program on campus? At this informational meeting, our school’s own Director of Residence Life and RAD instructor Marion McKinney will tell us all about the free RAD program at WCU!
October 29 : Give a sexy treat on Halloween, but DON’T get tricked into catching any STIs! Be safe and wrap it up. Executive Board members of AWE will be handing out condoms in residence halls to make sure you stay safe.

Self-published magazines (or “zines”) are a great way to get your poetry, art, or political beliefs out there! Women’s Center workers Kelly Crodian and Nick Silveri-Hiller will teach you everything you need to know about writing, printing, and distributing your very own zine. Start tonight!
Co-Sponsored by the Women's Center Does identifying as a woman change how you are viewed and treated within a political sphere? Join us in discussing sexism in politics. Topics will include the recent change in the definition of rape plus many more. This discussion is sure to be an intriguing one!
