The Myths & Facts About Feminism

MYTHS FACTS
"Feminists hate men" The truth is that feminism provides women with empowerment, a love for their own gender, and a love for other women. This kind of empowerment does not involve hate for men, simply a love for women.
"Feminists are all lesbians" The truth is that feminists are a diverse group of people, including people of all sexual orientations. All feminists are not lesbians and all lesbians are not feminists.
"Feminists are 'butch'" The truth is that some feminists do not wear make-up, and prefer to dress comfortably. Feminists come in all forms, however, and do not fit into any stereotypes. (Physical appearance is not part of major feminist ideology).
"Feminists want to be men" Feminists do not generally have any desire to be men. The whole idea is to value who women are and value the qualities that have been labeled "female", qualities that society as a whole has viewed negatively.
"All feminists are women" There are many men who are feminists, and actively so.

MISS WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY 2002’s BREAST CANCER AWARENESS SITE

My name is Jessica Ritter. I am Miss WCU 2002 and my platform is breast cancer awareness. I encourage you to visit the sites below for information and facts on breast cancer. Also listed are breast cancer foundations and organizations.

The proceeds from the Miss West Chester University 2002 Pageant were donated to my platform of Breast Cancer Awareness. These funds were used to purchase educational materials for the West Chester University Health Center. Please stop by the Health Center to watch the new Breast Self Examination Video and try to locate the “cancer” in three teaching breast models.

Please visit the Miss West Chester University Pageant Web site for a schedule of upcoming events related to my platform.
