Women's Center Mission
The Women’s Center has served the diverse needs of women and their male allies for forty years on West Chester University’s campus. Our mission is to raise awareness of issues that disproportionately impact women and to create an inclusive campus environment for all students. Our services include providing support for women in crisis, providing referrals and resources for students, implementing educational programming that addresses a wide variety of gender and social justice issues, and hosting special events, workshops, and trainings that promote awareness of the ways in which gender bias intersects with racism, classism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Coursework in Women’s and Gender Studies
Coursework or work experience involving human sexuality
Victim advocacy training
Ability to communicate with comfort on a variety of topics, including sensitive issues
Leadership experience or ability to reach a wide variety of students
All Women’s Center staff members must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (undergraduate) or 3.5 (graduate)
Knowledge and experience working with diverse populations
Strong written or verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Ability to be self-starting and self- motivating
Complete tasks in a timely manner
Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
Ability to work unsupervised, independently, and in groups
