SO, you want to move off campus! A student who does not live in West Chester University Housing, but pays rent for a local residency is an off-campus student! Let the Off-Campus Life Program start you on your way to finding reliable housing.

    THE INSPECTION


  • Take a friend - two sets of eyes see more than one
  • Set up a time to inspect or "walk through" the unit
  • Take a check list of questions and necessities you are requiring
  • During the walk-through, learn as much as possible about the landlord
  • Check the landlord evaluations in 238 Sykes Union

    ASK QUESTIONS


  • Does the rent include water, heat and electricity?
  • What deposit is, fees and/or services are required: cleaning, damage, security, painting, keys?
  • How much written notice must you give to terminate the lease?
  • What is the maximum occupancy?
  • Is there a guest policy?
  • What happens if a roommate leaves?
  • Who has the right of entry to conduct inspections?
  • What repairs/renovations will be done before you move in?
  • Is there extra storage for large objects?
  • Can you hang pictures or paint
  • Are pets allowed?
  • Can you sublet?
