There are four major categories of aid at West Chester University and as long as you have at least considered each of these, and apply for them as applicable, you will have your bases covered.

Grants - Scholarships - Employment - Educational Loans

Grants and Scholarships — aid you do not repay; are generally need-based

Employment — funds you earn by working; to assist with educational expenses

Educational Loans — funds that are borrowed; repaid with interest

State and Federal Aid

Types of Aid
Federal Pell Grant Program  FAFSA     Pell Grants are considered a foundation of federal financial aid, to which aid from other federal and nonfederal sources might be added. The maximum award for the 2008-09 award year (July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009) is $4,731.
Federal Supplemental Educational; Opportunity Grant-   (F.S.E.O.G) The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) program is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Pell Grant recipients with the lowest EFCs will be considered first for a FSEOG.    

PA State Grant (FAFSA)

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through PHEAA, makes state grants available to students who demonstrate financial need and are Pennsylvania residents.  Deadline is May 1st.
State Grants in General The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has entered into reciprocal agreements with the following adjacent states: Delaware, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland.
Federal Perkins Loan The Federal Perkins Student Loan is administered by the Office of Financial Aid for students who demonstrate high financial need. The interest rate is 5 percent and begins to accrue when repayment commences.
Federal Stafford Student Loan To apply for a Federal Stafford Student Loan you must indicate your interest in a loan by your response to question #26 on the (FAFSA).
Federal Parent Plus for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) The Federal PLUS program operates through private lenders. Parents may borrow up to the cost of education minus other aid for each dependent student attending a postsecondary educational institution for each academic level. The interest rate is variable, not to exceed nine percent, and repayment commences 60 days after disbursement of the loan funds. Applications are secured at lending institutions.
Federal Work Study Program To apply for Federal Work study - you must indicate your interest in work study by your response to question #26 on the (FAFSAAND complete a West Chester University Student Employment Application.

Summer Financial Aid

Summer aid is available on a limited basis to students who register on, at least, a half-time basis for the summer. Students must be making satisfactory academic progress. Contact the Financial Aid Office for details about summer aid and all required applications.
