How do I receive the funds?

Federal Student Loan funds are delivered, either by check or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), usually during the first week of school. All WCU preferred lenders send loan funds by EFT, which means students do NOT need to negotiate a loan check at the Bursar's office. Loan funds are delivered by wire and placed onto students' accounts. A receipt is sent to students' local addresses upon the receipt of the funds; where a loan check needs to be negotiated, the Bursar's Office will mail a notice that the check has arrived. Students must sign these checks within 30 days or the funds will be returned. Students who have not completed the entrance counseling requirement will not have funds delivered until that process is finished. In certain cases, students' files may be selected for verification after the loan has been certified; loan funds will not be delivered to these student accounts until the process has been completed.
