B.S. Health Science Degree Completion
Do you hold a certificate, diploma, or associate degree in an allied health field but always wanted your bachelor's degree? West Chester University's bachelor of science in health science degree completion program will give you that opportunity.
Our Program
The University's B.S. in health science is designed for students who have completed an A.S. degree, certificate, or diploma in an allied health field. Admission into this degree program requires a completed certificate, diploma, or associate degree in an allied health field. These may include, but are not limited to, nursing, paramedic, X-ray technology, dental hygiene, and complementary and alternative modalities such as acupuncture, botanical medicine, and massage therapy.

Distributive Requirements
You will be required to have a total of 120 credits to graduate, and 30 credits must be from West Chester University.
Required Core Courses (9 credits)
As a student, you will need to complete the following courses:
HEA 242 Introduction to Public and Community Health
HEA 341 Chronic and Communicable Diseases
HEA 419 Research Methods in Health
Degree Electives
Students have the opportunity to select an elective area from three exciting choices:
All 15 credits must be taken within a declared elective area
Transfer Credits from Previous Education
Students who enter this degree program will have a varied number of transfer health credits from their allied health programs. Credits accepted for transfer will be determined by the Office of the Registrar and the chairperson of the Department of Health (e.g., 42 credits for paramedics). Additional general education courses will also be evaluated for transfer in this same fashion.
CLEP Opportunities
Credit for Life Experience (CLEP) exams are available for many of the courses offered at West Chester. Successful completion of the exam earns WCU credits toward the degree. Credit by Exam is also available for select courses.
