Administration and Finance Division
Strategic Initiatives 2009-10
The Administration and Finance team is essential in furthering the mission of West Chester University. The employees in the seven departments are the stewards of West Chester University’s financial, facilities, human resources, and emergency planning and safety services.
Our mission is to direct the critical business and administrative services that support the academic and student service programs and the functioning of the University. We are committed to providing high-quality services to our customers, enhancing the learning experience, and ensuring a safe and functional working, learning, and living environment.
In support of the President’s Strategic Initiatives for 2009-10, the Administration and Finance Division has identified the following priorities:

Develop and implement sound business and fiscal policies and practices, including budget and funding strategies to ensure that resources are used in the optimum fashion, consistent with University and PASSHE goals. |

Continue to enhance business processes; implementing process-improvement initiatives for efficient allocation and use of resources. |

Develop education programs for internal customers to improve service delivery and to increase efficiency. |
| • |
Continue to identify and mitigate major risks to the University. |
| • |
Refine and test protocols and processes related to emergency preparedness, emergency communication, and threat assessment, including the emergence of a flu pandemic. |

Develop initiatives towards environmental awareness, sustainability, the reduction of the University’s ecological impact, and the promotion of activities that foster regional and global sustainability. |

Develop and implement initiatives that continue to improve the relationship between WCU and its surrounding communities. |

Promote diversity in hiring; support the apprenticeship program in Facilities, continue the successful supplier diversity program, and identify and reduce barriers to access and equity. |

Continue to provide leadership for capital improvements including the Recreation Center, Bull Center renovation, parking garage, housing renewal initiative, geothermal conversion, as well as other campus renovations and improvements. |

Support the Middle States reaccreditation process and integrate the preparation of a comprehensive facilities strategic planning into this process. |

Develop a cohesive management team with the skills and disposition to provide strong leadership for the workforce, enhance the quality of support services, and ultimately provide a high level of service for the University’s customers. |

Develop staff skills and abilities to meet the changing needs of the University, with continued emphasis on performance management. |
