Taxes
West Chester University has purchased a site license for our students to use CINTAX for filing their tax returns. After reviewing practices at other universities, we decided that the easiest, most accurate tax filing for our students would be by using this product.
If you were studying in the US during 2006, you have most likely already experienced the tax reporting process we have here in the United States. All F and J visitors must file some type of form with the United States government by April 15, 2008 if they were present in the United States during 2007. If you earned no income in 2007, please open the attachment (cintax-noincome.pdf). Everyone else must file a regular tax return and report all earned income.
The tax program works by asking you a series of questions. By answering the questions asked, you are able to print out your tax return which you must then sign and mail to the Internal Revenue Service. This program does not allow you to automatically file your tax return through the computer. You must print, sign, and mail the tax documents. However, the program does greatly simplify your tax calculations. CINTAX even identifies which countries have tax treaties with the United States and adjusts your taxation accordingly.
In order for you to access CINTAX, we assign you an access code. Once you sign into the program, you change your userid and password. The company provides online help if you have any questions about your tax forms.
If you would like to take advantage of this program, please send international@wcupa.edu an e-mail. We will assign you an access code and you will receive further instructions via an e-mail from CINTAX.
I have also included the instruction sheet for using the program to give you a better idea of how the process works.
