Maintaining Status

The consequences for failing to maintain status are becoming increasingly more severe.  It is relatively easy to stay in status if you observe the following rules:

• Keep your passport valid
• Pursue a full course of study each semester.  That means, if you are an undergraduate student you must enroll in at least 12 credits each semester.  If you are a graduate student you must enroll in at least 9 credits each semester.
• Maintain course registration each semester until graduation (except over the summer break).
• DO NOT work off campus without the required authorization.
• Limit on campus employment to 20 hours per week when class is in session.
• Provide the Center for International Programs (CIP) with proof of health insurance.
• Notify CIP of an address change within 10 days of your move.
