Transferring to Another University
Students wanting to transfer to another university from West Chester University must first be accepted to their new school. Once accepted, the new school will give you their transfer form. (All universities have a form which they use for transfer students.) Bring a copy of your acceptance letter and the transfer form from your new school to the International Office.
We will complete the transfer form and fax it to the new school with a current copy of your I-20. Your new school will ask what date we are going to transfer your SEVIS records and we will specify that on the transfer form. When that transfer date arrives, your new school will be able to go into your SEVIS record and create a new I-20 for you from your new school. Your new I-20 will have the same SEVIS number as your I-20 from West Chester University. By transferring your SEVIS records, you are not required to pay the SEVIS fee again.
Please note: We do not transfer students in the middle of a semester. You must complete the semester in which you are currently enrolled before we are able to transfer your SEVIS records.
