With the lessening of tensions between Russia and the West, Americans now
have an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the nation that was
out primary adversary for the last four decades. In order to take advantage
of the new possibilities for contact and exchange with Russia created by
these political changes, students must study Russian culture as they do their
own.
The program at West Chester University is interdisciplinary, incorporating
history, geography, political science, foreign policy, film, art, language,
and literature. The program also attempts to reach a larger community of
students who may have an interest in Russian studies.
