Robert E. Drayer Memorial Award
In tribute to Dr. Robert E. Drayer's commitment to students and teaching at West Chester University, each year the faculty of the Department of History selects the graduating senior(s) with the most distinguished record in history.
Michael Grey Award
Michael Grey was a senior history major, with a minor in American Studies, at West Chester University when he died as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in November, 1988, (and was awarded his degree posthumously). An active member of the university organization "Together Toward Peace," he aspired to obtain his Ph.D. in history to become a professor.
Each Spring the department presents The Michael Grey Award to the WCU junior or senior in history of American studies major who best demonstrates the character and interests of Michael Grey, class of 1989. Preference is given to those involved in extracurricular activities and community service.
