Physics Tea Every Thursday
Join us each Thursday at 3:00 pm in the Physics Library (Boucher 125) for The Physics Tea. This is a social time we have set aside for physics students and faculty to chat about physics, classes, grad school, and anything else that happens to come up in conversation. It's a great time to relax and see your professors and classmates in an informal atmosphere outside the classroom.

Research Experience for Undergradutes (REU)

NSF

REU's are a wonderful experience for physics undergraduate students. Supported by the NSF, REU's fund undergraduate student research over the summer. There are over 50 REU sites for physics across the nation. Each site will accept between 10 and 20 REU students and provide each student with travel expenses, room and board, and a stipend of more than $3,400. If you are interested in learning more about this wonderful opportunity, please visit the NSF REU website.

Sir Isaac Newton: On the Shoulders of Giants

Newton

You might have noticed the new addition to the department. It resides outside of room 109 and comes from the creative mind a Spencer Tomberg. "Sir Isaac Newton: On the Shoulders of Giants" is an abstract work of art that was inspired by a famous quote of Sir Isaac Newton: “If I have seen farther, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”  Take a close look at the painting and enjoy.
