To improve the training of K-12 teachers, pre- and in-service, by promoting constructivist (inquiry-based) pedagogy.

Recruitment

Increase efforts at recruitment of underrepresented and minority public school students to pursue careers in teaching science and mathematics

Course Revision

1. Revised selected university content courses taken by education students to reflect research-based effective pedagogy.
2. Supplement science and mathematics methods courses with content.

Field Experiences

1. Provide supervision of science & math student teachers by content & pedagogy specialists
2. Provide consistency in experiences received by science & math education majors between their revised university courses, field experiences & induction period
