Hypnosis Program

The hypnosis program at The Mind/Body Institute at West Chester University allows participants to focus on their specific problem and its resolution. The program is designed to give patients some control over their responses to their particular problem.  Hypnosis is a normal state of focused concentration comparable to a daydream or when one becomes very absorbed in a book or movie and begins to lose awareness of their surroundings.

The program teaches patients self-hypnosis to assist patients in dealing with:  pain, procedural anxiety, physical symptom control, smoking control, stress management and other daily maladies.  During the initial session, a formal intake will be performed to gather information so that the practitioner can develop an effective therapeutic design that allows change to occur in the patient in the quickest manner.  Depending upon the result of the initial intake interview, hypnotic sessions may be done individually or in groups depending on the individuals needs.  Determination of the protocol is made during the initial intake.
