Stan Cramer

Dr. Stanley J. Cramer is an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology with a focus on secondary physical education.  He came to West Chester University in the Spring of 1981 to receive his teaching certification in Health and Physical Education after attending North Carolina Sate University and serving in the U.S. Navy’s submarine force for six years.  He received his B.S. in Health and Physical Education from West Chester in 1984 and his M.S. in Exercise Science also from West Chester in 1986. After working for Sports Physical Therapists Inc. he returned to teaching at West Chester University, Japan in the fall of 1989.  He returned to WCU-PA in December 1990 and has been teaching here ever since.  Dr. Cramer received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction of Physical Education from Temple University in 1999.

Dr. Cramer has taught the vast majority of teacher certification courses and some exercise science courses over his tenure and enjoys teaching activity classes the most.  He served as coordinator of student teaching from 2000 to 2008.  Currently he is back in the classroom and gymnasium and focuses his research on character education in physical education and Teaching Games for Understanding a tactical games approach for instruction.

Dr. Cramer is the faculty advisor for the Physical Education Club and an assistant advisor for Phi Epsilon Kappa, the honors and service fraternity.  He is a member of the University Advising Committee, the University Council on Professional Education’s Field Experience Committee, the University Student Information and Advising Committee, the Student Research Committee and STARS, NASPE's national achievement program recognizing outstanding physical education programs in K-12 schools across America.
