The Graduate Program in Public Health, which leads to a Master of Public Health (MPH), consists of 45 credit hours. Students take a required Core of 24 credits (including 6 credits of Applied Learning Experience I and II) and 21 credits in an area of Focused Electives from Community Health, Environmental Health, Health Care Administration or Integrative Health. This degree is fully accredited by the Council of Education for Public Health (CEPH).

Application Information
The Public Health Core, and the Community Health and Integrative Health Focused Elective Areas, are offered under an accelerated format. By committing two evenings per week per semester, a student can complete all degree requirements in one calendar year; or by committing to just one night per week per semester, the degree can be earned in two calendar years. Up to six credits may be transferred into the program from other universities. In addition, advanced independent study and opportunities to study abroad are available.
The Community Health elective area addresses how to conduct community health needs assessments, program planning and evaluation, and funding for public health programs. The settings include community health agencies, hospitals, the non-profit sector, and corporate wellness programs. The Environmental Health elective area prepares talented students for the technical and professional demands of careers dedicated to the protection of human health and the environment. Graduates of the program work to improve the quality of air, water, soil and food using technology to measure and control pollutants, indoors and outdoors. Master of Public Health degree recipients direct multidisciplinary teams of professionals as Environmental Health Managers. At all levels, the program embraces the broad environmental ethic of sustainability through human cooperation with nature, including basic rights to a safe home and workplace; clean water supplies for human consumption, recreation and wildlife; safe and available food supply; waste and energy management; and careful resource management for the future. The Integrative Health elective area explores the integration of Complementary and Alternative Medicine into conventional health care and stresses a critical assessment of evidenced-based research. For more information on this area, contact Dr. Roger Mustalish, 610-436-2931 or rmustalish@wcupa.edu.
