The department has an active chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA), which is open to both undergraduate and graduate student membership. When you enroll as a member of the national organization, you automatically become a member of the department chapter. Membership in the national organization entitles you to all the professional journals which ASHA distributes as well as to special privileges; such as, newsletters and reduced rates for convention registration.

The purpose of this presentation is to provide information and demonstrate various iPad apps which can be used to improve oral and written communication skills. Topics will include: locating appropriate apps, using iPads for assessment purposes, articulation apps, receptive and expressive language apps, social/pragmatic apps, data collection, low-tech and high tech AAC apps, and identifying motivating apps and determining ways to utilize them in therapy. Speaker: Carolyn Macrina, MA CCC-SLP This conference is offered for .6 ASHA CEUs and 6 ACT 48 credits at a cost of only $70 (includes lunch and career fair). Victoria is at the Walk4Hearing event helps sell hats to raise funds for the hearing impaired.
NSSLHA students from West Chester University volunteered at the Walk4Hearing during the fall semester.

Many of the NSSLHA members spent many hours in the cold for the Sleep Out for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness 2012. The NSSLHA members helped at the registration table and distributed food to the participants at the Sleep Out.
The toys made by the students in NSSLHA at WCUPA were delivered to the Chester County SPCA for dogs and cats right before the holidays!
