Sheena
Butler
Graduate Assistant,
Training and Development
Sheena L. Butler is a Philadelphia native, but she currently
resides in Delaware. In May 2007, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in
Business/Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management from Cheyney University of
PA. Throughout her undergraduate experience, Sheena established a strong
foundation in the hospitality industry. Later, having an interest in pursuing higher education, Ms.
Butler then decided to obtain a M.S. Administration Degree to concentrate in
Training and Development . In August 2007, Sheena began working for the
Frederick Douglass Institute as a Graduate Assistant to increase her involvement
within Institute-related projects. Her expectations are to graduate in 2009.
Upon graduation, she would like to apply her Training and Development knowledge
and experience to serve as a Higher Education Administrator. Ms. Butler is plans
to pursue her Ed. D upon completion of her masters degree. Her long-term goals
is to teach at the college level.
In her spare time, Sheena enjoys traveling, music, and
ballet.
Brian
Jones
Graduate Assistant,
Philosophy
After
transferring to West Chester University as a philosophy major, Brian
participated in a number of philosophical conferences and forums on a variety
of topics including: eastern metaphysics and mysticism, western religious
thought, Africana social and political theory. This encouraged Brian to take
his passion for Africana thought and to critically analyze it through
philosophical reflection and discourse. Brian became an active member of The
Contemporary Issues Advisory Board and The West Chester Philosophical Society.
As a member of these organizations, Brian dealt with many programs focusing in
multicultural perspectives and fields.
Brian is
currently doing graduate work at West Chester University while working as a
graduate assistant for the Frederick Douglass Institute. He is also the vice
president of the West Chester Philosophical Society. Currently he is doing an
independent study on jurisprudence and the philosophy of justice. After the
masters program, he plans to pursue his Ph.D. in philosophy with the intent to
teach and work extensively in the discipline.
Davis
Pierre- Louis
Student Worker, English
Davis Pierre-Louis was
born in Brooklyn, N.Y., but was raised in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania. A 2007
graduate of Lankenau High School in Philadelphia, Davis was an active member
of numerous committees including the prom, yearbook, and fundraising. He also
volunteered his services in the community by serving in a program called Youth
Council and helping with community restoration and awareness. Other tasks
included developing extracurricular activities for community youth and
providing aid to less fortunate members of society. Davis envisions a better
tomorrow for his community. He dedicates himself, through his community
service, toward his vision of in hope that others will aspire to do as he
does.
Davis entered West Chester
University in September 2007 and is majoring in political science. In addition
to working for the Frederick Douglass Institute, he is a member of the Omega
mentor program, Black Students Union, and Black Men United. He also enjoys
writing, performing poetry, and playing intramural flag football. After
graduation he plans to attend law school to study corporate law.
