A variety of organizations and activities are available to students throughout the University and in the College of Education. In addition to specific organizations and programs, there is a spirit of helpfulness, public service, and volunteerism which pervades the activities of students in education. Please explore this page to learn more and sample the possibilities.
Every year, undergraduate candidates in the Early Grades, Middle Grades, Elementary, and Early Childhood programs, and post-baccalaureate students in Elementary Education, contribute to the local community. One way they contribute is through a Community Service Experience. Each spring, two candidates from these programs are recognized for their outstanding Community Service Experience.

Kappa Delta Pi
WCU’s Kappa Phi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) is an international honor society in education. The WCU chapter engages in philanthropic and service activities supporting the local community, schools and children.The chapter initiates between 20 and 70 students annually and its officers regularly attend the national convocation. The current advisors are Early and Middle Grades Education Faculty Members Katherine Norris and Laura Fiorenza.
West Chester Association for the Education of Young Children
The West Chester Association for the Education of Young Children (WCAEYC) is one of the largest organizations on the WCU campus with 200 active members. WCAEYC is represented on the Student Government Association with a Senate seat and is active in the WCU Student Leadership Project. |
