Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation

Community Service Activties: Volunteer interpreters greet visitors and share with visitors what they have learned about colonial life. Some interpreters participate in special weekend events, demonstrate colonial skills, and are tour guides. Volunteers can also teach classes, conduct workshops, or answer questions of visitors.
The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation is open on weekends from April to November.
Community Action Agency of Delaware County
The mission of the Community Action Agency of Delaware County, Inc. (CAADC) is to assist families and individuals to move toward economic self-sufficiency and reduce their dependence on public support through innovative approaches to programs, including provision of professional case management services, life skills training, employment training, social services, and creation of affordable housing, and community and economic development activities.

Delaware County Literacy Council
The Delaware County Literacy Council works with adults, who wish to read, write, speak and understand English, helping them to increase their communication skills and to participate more fully in society. The Council uses volunteers to ensure that programs are free and accessible to everyone.

Community Service Activity:Volunteer tutors work one-on-one, helping an adult to learn basic reading or math skills or to speak English as a second language. Tutors and learners meet twice a week in a public place for 1½ hours each time. Tutor training is required (10 hours). Training is offered in Reading Tutoring (also called Adult Basic Education, or ABE, Tutoring), English as a Second Language Tutoring (ESL), and Math Tutoring.
Don Guanella School
Don Guanella School provides residential services for boys with developmental disabilities on the campus of Don Guanella Village.

Community Service Activity: Volunteers will assist residents on outings and day trips, such as to the beauty shop, physical therapy, and at bingo events. Volunteers are also needed to help plan and assist residents with crafts, play individual games with the residents or assist in a group program such as casino day, parachute games, and bowling, as well as sharing musical, dance, or artistic talents with residents. Volunteers may also provide one-on-one visits to individuals in their rooms in an effort to provide social interaction and sensory stimulation through reading, listening, conversing, and doing sensory activities.
Family & Community Services of Delaware County
Family and Community Service of Delaware County (FCS) is an incorporated, nonprofit, multi-service counseling agency serving Delaware County. FCS provides services from offices in Media and Clifton Heights, the Ralph Moses House in Chester, and in other community locations.

Community Service Activities: Family & Community Services of Delaware County has many volunteer opportunities throughout the year for interested individuals. For instance, the Second Time Around Parents Program is always looking for volunteers to help with grandchildren's activities, such as trips to the zoo and aquarium. Child care assistants are sometimes needed for our kids' groups. Additionally, the Ralph Moses House, a supportive, transitional housing facility for homeless men with HIV and AIDS also have many opportunities for volunteering. Adopt a Family for the Holidays takes places during the winter holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, and volunteers will assist in providing them with food, new clothing, or gifts.
