Dr. Stowe was born and raised in Philadelphia and Western PA. Oldest of 4 children, and the only daughter. Father was a general and thoracic surgeon. Mother is a retired health science librarian. Brothers, Patrick, an internist; Matthew, a financial planner: and Kevin, a bank vice-president. Married 18 years to Peter an associate director for a pharmaceutical co., no children, but 8 nieces and nephews! A beach person, she frequently spends time in Ocean City, NJ. Loves sailing (a hobie cat), windsurfing (but only in the lovely warm Caribbean, specifically Aruba), reading mysteries, and crocheting. She has been a nurse for 33 years. The first 15 years of her career was spent in various clinical positions including: 2 years at Jefferson Hospital in ICU/CCU; 2 years on general surgical units as a staff nurse and supervisor at Philadelphia General Hospital; 2 years as a nursing instructor at Presbyterian School of Nursing, Philadelphia; 1 year as full-time graduate student; 7 years as a Neuroscience Clinical Specialist at Medical College of Pennsylvania; and the last 20 WONDERFUL years as a Faculty member at WCU. |
