It is not mandatory to meet with our graduate assistant, but it is beneficial to meet and get some helpful guidance related to your academic difficulties.
Typical meetings last 20-30 minutes. During this time you and a graduate assistant will explore reasons you may be having trouble in certain courses, and collaborate on possible solutions.
The purpose of the notification is to let you know you have less than a C- in the course early in the semester, and we are here to help you get back on track and be successful. The Early Alert Program is a system of support.
Working with the program will not show up on your transcript, but the grade you receive in the course of concern will, unless you have chosen to drop the course.
Our graduate assistants will work around each student’s schedule. If you are unable to make it to the Learning Assistance and Resource Center, a phone or email conversation will be set up to help you reach the necessary support services. Online tutoring is available in many courses.
The only people informed are you, your advisor, the Director of the Learning Assistance and Resource Center, and the program assistant.
