New “technology fee” equipment utilized by the nursing students:
Technology fee allows nursing students to use specialized software and hardware for clinical preparation using tablet PCs.
The Department of Nursing has recently moved into a new nursing skills laboratory. Eight bedside laptop/tablet computers provided by the technology fee program will be utilized to enhance technology facets of the nursing education program. This will enable students doing clinical simulations at the bedside in concert with various programs.
Students can utilize tablet PCs at the clinical bedside to take notes and record information. The wireless tablet PCs will transmit the information to the base system for future study.
In addition, the Nursing department will enhance the teaching of nursing core courses (NSG/NSL 212, 311, 312, 411, & 412 and the graduate courses; NSG 520 (Advanced Physical Assessment) with the addition of 6 new computers, thus increasing the computers available for student pre-clinical, seminar and class preparation.
