Application

Q:  How do I apply to work in the new Recreation Center?

A:   You can pick up a paper application in the following locations:

  • Ehinger Gym 132 (purple gym)
  • Sykes Fitness Center

 You can print out an application from the Campus Recreation website (see top of page for application)

 

 

Q:  When is the application due?

A:  All applications are due by 11:00 PM on Friday, March 23, 2012. 

 

Q:  Where do I turn in my completed application?

A:  Completed applications can be turned in Ehinger Gymnasium Room 132 (the purple gym). 

 

Available Jobs

Q:  Can I apply for multiple jobs?

A:  Yes, you can apply for as many jobs as you like.  If you are applying for more than one job, please rank the positions (1=first, 2=second, 3=third, etc). 

 

 

Q:  Who can apply for a job at the new Recreation Center (employment staring 2012)?

A:  Any current full-time or part-time West Chester student can apply.  Please note that job opportunities will begin starting fall 2012; seniors graduating spring 2012 or summer 2012  or Post-summer session 2012 are not recommended to apply.

 

Q:  What jobs are available in the new Recreation Center?

A:  The following jobs are available:

Q:  Where can I get more information regarding each job opportunity?

A:  At the top of the website, there are links to detailed job descriptions for each position.

 

Interview Process

Q:  When can I expect to hear back after I turn in an application?

 A:   We expect it to take 2-3 weeks to go through all of the applications and during that time, we will start to invite students for interviews.  Interviews will be conducted mid to late April and all students chosen for employment will be notified prior to the end of the spring semester.   

 

Q:  How will I know if I am not selected for an interview?

A:  If you turned in an application and you are not invited for an interview, you will receive an email notification

 

Work Study

Q:  Can I apply if I am work-study?

A:  Yes, you can still apply if you are work-study.  Please note that all work-study students can only work a maximum of 10 hours per week. 

 

Informational Sessions

Q:  I did not attend the information sessions held in Sykes?  Can I still apply?

A:  Yes, you can still apply to work in the Recreation Center if you did not attend the informational sessions.  They were not mandatory to attend.  The sessions were simply to share information regarding employment at the new Recreation Center.

Q:  I’m stuck on some of the application components.  What references are available on campus that can help? 

A:  There are many resources avaialble on campus if you need help on the appliction.

 

  • Application Questions, Reference Questions, and Interview References:  The Twardowski Career Development Center, located on the second floor of Lawrence Center offers a variety of services and resources to assist students and alumni with starting and advancing your career, for example:
    • Individual appointments for assistance with identifying major and career options
    • Career exploration and job search resources in our resource room and online
    • Resume writing assistance and personalized feedback
    • Interview advice and preparation
    • Career fairs, on-campus interviews by employers, and other networking connections

Misc

Q:  What hours can I expect to work?

A:  Each student has a unique schedule, so we work to help you schedule hours that will best accommodate your busy schedule.  Students, on average, can expect to work between 10-12 hours per week. 

 

Q:  I have another job on campus; can I still apply to work in the new Recreation Center?

A:  Yes, you can still apply to work at the Recreation Center if you have another job on campus.
