Kristen O'Rourke

B.A. Theater, Montclair State University; M.A. Theater Studies, Villanova University


Along with university teaching, Ms. O’Rourke has experience developing and working outreach for theatre education with many regional theatres such as The Wilma Theater, Theater Horizon, Theatre Exile, People’s Light & Theater Company, Luna Stage (NJ), The New Jersey Governor’s School, and The Delaware Theater Company.  She was invited to participate in a two-summer workshop on devised theatre with The National Theater of Scotland, People’s Light, and Epic Theatre, which was recently recognized in American Theater Magazine May/June 2013 American Theatre.

Also known as the professional actress K.O. DelMarcelle; some acting credits include: Private Lives (Lantern), Gossamer (People's Light), Hysteria (The Wilma), Romeo & Juliet (Lantern), Barefoot in the Park (Maple’s Rep., MO), Henry V (Lantern) The Diary of Anne Frank (EgoPo), Midsummer (Teatro Delle Due; Italy), Hedda Gabbler (Mauckingbird), and many Villanova Theatre productions where she completed her master’s degree.  Listen for her recent voiceover work on the radio for Planet Fitness. 


Movement, yoga, and physical theatre studies such as Laban and Viewpoints are an important foundation of K.O.’s teaching, acting and life.  Since 2007, K.O. has been working with the non-profit ballroom dance program Dancing With The Students as an instructor and/or coach, and currently she is the Program & Development Director.  Recent professional choreography credits include: The Walnut Street Theatre's production of Ceasar's Palace O'Fun and The Philadelphia Opera Collective's production of The Consul.

Directing credits include Philadelphia fringe productions, and a collaboration with WCU faculty member Charlie DelMarcelle on Inverted, a new play written by WCU adjunct faculty Andrea Kennedy Hart.  Most recently she directed The Phollies for EgoPo Classic Theater Company, which was also a collaboration with WCU faculty member Liz Staruch.

Fall 2013, K.O. is collaborating with fellow WCU theatre instructor Kathryn MacMillan (KC Nocero) on The Lantern Theater’s production of Emma, for which K.O. is the production choreographer.
