M. A. Education, Specialty in Dance Pedagogy, University of Warsaw

Jerzy Golek is experienced in all aspects of classical and modern ballet performance, teaching, and choreography. He began his dance career by winning a national audition in his native Poland for admission to the National Ballet Academy at Gdansk. Following graduation, he danced for the Ballet Company of Lodz, and then performed with the Mazowsze National Dance Company of Poland. As a member of Poland’s premiere international cultural ensemble, Mr. Golek toured around the world and performed at such world famous venues as La Scala, Milan; Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow; Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires, Carnegie Hall, New York; and the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Mr. Golek continued his education to receive a Master of Arts in Dance Education from the University of Warsaw. He was awarded Gold Medal of Artistic Achievement by the President of Poland.

Since coming to the United States, Mr. Golek has held numerous teaching positions and has become a master teacher and choreographer, developing ballet programs at several dance schools.  Mr. Golek has developed his own teaching style, based on his classical training in the Russian method, modified to the needs of his American students. He is also the president and artistic director of Cultural Interchanges, which, among other activities, provides Mr. Golek’s students with the opportunity to attend an international summer dance festival in Poland.

Mr. Golek has been adjunct at West Chester since 2005, teaching all levels of ballet.
