Dr. Ruchti is a performance studies scholar who specializes in Brechtian theatre, gender performance, dramaturgy, and queer theory. She teaches Race and Gender in American Theatre and Introduction to Theatre for the WCU Department of Theatre and Dance. Dr. Ruchti also teaches in the Women’s Studies Program at WCU. She has recently published on the performance of masculinity and queer theory and has a forthcoming book chapter on the Body Worlds exhibits. She graduated from Ohio University with a doctorate in Interdisciplinary Arts, focusing on theatre and film. She earned her bachelor’s in dramatic literature from Mount Holyoke College and her master’s in Performance Studies from New York University, after which she worked in the NYC film industry for five years.
