Education
B.M.E., M.M.E., University of Colorado; D.M. (Brass Pedagogy), Indiana University

Professor Metcalf studied with Hugh McMillen, William Bell, Harvey Phillips, Keith Brown, and Thomas Beversdorf. His considerable teaching experience includes the public schools in Nebraska and Colorado, Mesa College, and Indiana University. Dr. Metcalf is Professor Emeritis at Rowan University, having held the position of Tuba Professor and Student Teaching Supervisor from 1972-2001.

He is active as a performer in the Philadelphia area, having performed with the Philly Pops, the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Ballet, the American Ballet Theater, and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
