Education
B.S., M.M., West Chester University; D.M.A., University of Maryland at College Park.

Dr. Sprenkle’s voice teachers include Fritz Krueger, Alan Wagner, Conrad Thibault and Kenneth Pennington.

Professor Sprenkle returned to West Chester in 1987 following twelve years at Palm Beach Atlantic College, (Florida) where he taught voice, trombone, and chaired the vocal division. While at the University of Maryland, he studied opera with George Shirley, 20th-century song with Phyllis Bryn-Julson and early music performance with Richard Wexler. Professor Sprenkle’s doctoral dissertation include the recording (both voice and instrument parts) of 14th-century Italian composer Niccolo da Perugia’s forty-one extant works.

Dr. Sprenkle’s interest and expertise in early music earned him the directorship of the Chamber Choir and Collegium Musicum. He teaches voice, madrigal class, choral conducting, and has directed the Masterworks and University Choruses. A vocal soloist, recitalist/guest artist, conductor, actor, clinician, and adjudicator, he remains a minstrel.
