Ms. Anita Greenlee Room 340, Swope Music Building Education Anita Greenlee studied organ in the U.S. at the Juilliard School of Music with Dr. Vernon de Tar, and in Europe with Cor Kee, Anton Heiller, Marie-Claire Alain and Luigi Tagliavini, as well as additional study in harpsichord with Gustav Leonhardt and composition with Ton deLeeuw. She has concertized throughout Northern Europe and the Eastern U.S. , including M.I.T., MA, Stetson University , FL , Penn State University , PA ; and at numerous American Guild of Organist events, conventions and churches, and at Longwood Gardens . In 2001 she played the dedicatory concert on the new 83 rank Walker digital organ in Swope Hall, and in 2004 performed the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony with the Kennett Symphony Orchestra. She lectures and writes for professional journals, and her compositions have been performed in Amsterdam , Holland , as well as in Richmond , Los Angeles , Philadelphia , and at Lebanon Valley College . Professor Greenlee is Founder/Director of the Greenleigh Chorale, which performs with orchestra major works from the sacred choral repertory, such as Bach’s B Minor Mass, Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. She has served several Delaware Valley churches as Minister of Music , serving currently at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Newtown Square . She initiated and chairs the annual West Chester University Piano Competition, drawing students ages 9-18 from the tri-state area; the annual West Chester University International Organ Competition, drawing students ages 15 – 25 from North America, Europe and Asia; and the Annual West Chester University Summer Keyboard Day Camp, drawing middle and high school students from the tri state area. Professor Greenlee currently serves as Assistant Chair, representing the Keyboard Division, of the Applied Music Department. . |
